About the Film School Consortium

At the very first meeting back in the fall of 2001, a handful of schools expressed interest in exploring how they might work together to support and promote student work. They were also interested in knowing more about curriculum at each other’s schools.

At the Consortium’s first Dialogue, a formal meeting with teams of faculty members from each school, the focus and mandate of the group became clearer. Schools wanted to work together not just to share information on educational aspects of filmmaking, but also to strengthen relationships with industry partners. The work and interests of the group have continued to grow and today there are fifteen schools that form the Consortium network across Canada.

Our mandate has diversified since 2001 and we have developed strong creative relationships with several industry partners that we are very excited and proud of. These partnerships have already generated some amazing opportunities for our emerging filmmakers.
